Description
Leftfield bass-centric alt-pop. After getting Mick Jones and Joe Idles to help out on the debut LP, Primitive Ignorant has stepped up to do most of the vox himself on Psychic Cinema. Guitars are banished and Sym's bass dictates the pace, backed up with dirty samples and spare futurepop production. The PI sound has expanded to take in ambient and hiphop tones as well as the colossal rock strut of first single POWER. Influences span Young Fathers, Yves Tumor, Nadine Shah, Ghostpoet, Ghost Town, Weatherall, Ashnikko, Warmduscher and Viagra Boys. And, as always, Sandinista and Iggy Pop (who inspired Psychic Cinema’s cover snap by Mr Steve Gullick. Symren Gharial was the bassist in Piano Wire and Eighties Matchbox.
