Yes, we offer gift vouchers that can either be used on our website or in our high-street shop. You can find them here. Gradings are in the form of sleeve/disc, e.g. EX/VG. In this case the sleeve is in excellent condition (first grade) and the disc is in very good condition (second grade). If there is only one condition, i.e. /EX, it means that the item is not in a picture sleeve and that the disc/record is excellent. Records that aren't in picture sleeves will either be in a company sleeve or a generic plain sleeve.
You can view full information on our grading system here.
-
Many of our new items are for sale in our physical shop, so discs are removed from their sleeve and kept behind the counter in our shop for security purposes. This means we cannot guarantee that a new item will be sealed unless it is explicitly described as such, but if you would prefer a sealed item, please let us know, and we’ll check if a sealed copy is available. Additionally, please note that not all UK releases are originally released sealed.
-
We will always include in the description if a second-hand item includes any additional parts, e.g. "with inner" or "includes poster", if you know an item originally came with any additional parts, such as a printed inner sleeve, and it isn't mentioned in the description, then generally the item won't include it, but please feel free to ask. New items will always be complete, unless otherwise specified.
-
We do not sell bootlegs or counterfeits; all vinyl and CDs are official pressings and never copies.
-
Shipping is calculated based on the total weight of the order. There is a shipping calculator on the shopping cart drawer and page, so please add the items you are interested in ordering to the cart and then use the shipping calculator to get an accurate shipping cost.
-
All of our items are parcelled using strong specially designed cardboard packaging, with extra card placed inside the parcel to further protect the order. Each vinyl in an order is placed in a clear plastic sleeve and plain paper white sleeve, and is separated from its cover - unless it is advertised as sealed - to prevent any damage, such as seam splits to the sleeve. If a vinyl is sealed, and you would prefer it to be placed outside of its sleeve before dispatch, please let us know.
-
We usually aim to dispatch orders within 1 to 2 working days. If you have chosen next day delivery, we can usually ship the same day if ordered before 2pm. If an item will take longer than 1 to 2 working days to dispatch, then the dispatch time will be stated on its product page.
Once an order is shipped, delivery approximately takes:
UK: 1 to 3 working days
EU: 1 to 2 weeks
Rest of Europe: Normally 1 to 2 weeks, but sometimes up to 3 weeks.
Japan: 1 to 2 weeks
USA: Normally 1 to 2 weeks, but sometimes up to 3 weeks.
Rest of World: 2 to 3 weeks -
If your order includes both in-stock and pre-order items, the entire order will be shipped together once all the pre-orders are released.
To receive in-stock items sooner, please place a separate order for them. If you’ve already ordered and want in-stock items shipped separately, contact us to arrange it (additional shipping charges may apply).
-
If your order includes items with different dispatch times, then the entire order will dispatched once all items are ready to dispatch.
Items with a stated dispatch time longer than 1 to 2 working days are usually items that we need to order in from a distributor, so they require additional time to arrive with us before we can ship them.
-
Also known as a lacquer, an acetate is a lacquer-covered metal plate upon which the music is encoded via a lathe. It is usually made for the producer, artist, or record company to have a listen to before they make a test pressing. It can usually only be played for a limited time before it wears out.
-
"Backed with", we often use this in the description preceding the b-side tracks that an item has.
-
A standard non-picture sleeve with the record label's logo usually printed on it.
-
Deletion cuts refer to titles that have been deleted or removed from manufacturing and distribution. It also refers to the manner in which the cover is marked to denote this. Remaining stock of a deleted title are sent through machines that punch, cut or clip the cover.
-
A sleeve manufactured with a custom cut area or hole, usually intended to reveal part of a picture disc, coloured vinyl, label, or inner sleeve without having to remove it from the cover.
-
A disc which is flexible. These tend not to be as good quality as a regular vinyl disc, and were often given away as freebies due to them being cheaper to manufacture.
-
A cover made from two parts: the front part - usually laminated and in colour - with a narrow fold-over on the reverse that is glued to the back part (which is usually not laminated and in black and white). They were often used for records in the 1950s and 60s.
-
A cover that opens like a book, the additional space compared to a regular sleeve means there is usually more artwork and/or liner notes. These are often used for double albums, with one record kept in each half of the cover.
-
Matrix numbers on vinyl records are codes that are stamped or etched into the runout groove (also known as the dead wax) near the centre of the record. They typically - though many variations exist - consist of the record's catalogue number, a side indicator letter (e.g. "A" and "B"), and the cut or lacqueur number. They can help in identifying the specific pressing of the record.
In recent years, the matrix numbers have become very important for collectors, and this is why we list the important ones. The general rule is that the first pressing is -1/-1 or A1/B1, but in some cases the first pressing can be a higher number. Some people think that the lower the number there is a slightly better sound as well, but in general the earlier the pressing the more collectable, similar to book collecting and first pressings etc. Any doubt or if you require more information on an item, please contact us.
-
A demonstration only or promotional item that is sent out to places for publicity, such as to radio stations, DJs, and the press, and not usually available to the general public.
-
Test pressings are the first copies of a disc made at the pressing plant in order to verify the disc plays cleanly and correctly before mass producing it. They are usually only pressed in minimal quantities, often making them very rare.
-
