Description
**BARCODE REPLACEMENT TITLES** Through The Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2) US - This collection was originally conceived to acknowledge the death of band co-founder Brian Jones (whose epitaph graces the inside cover) in July of 1969. For the US version It also served the need to get "Honky Tonk Women," then a huge hit single, onto an LP and to fill the ten-month gap since the release of Beggars Banquet. A remarkable set of songs including "Paint It Black," "She's A Rainbow" and "Jumpin' Jack Flash" that stands up against any other hits compilation. The Rolling Stones Now! - The third US album, sharing half the tracks from the UK 2nd album. It includes their 2nd UK number one hit, the classic blues re-write – "Little Red Rooster", with superb slide guitar from Brian Jones, and features one of the first Jagger / Richards originals – the yearning, soulful Heart of Stone. Now! is uniformly strong start-to-finish. The covers of "Down Home Girl," Bo Diddley's vibrating "Mona," Otis Redding's "Pain in My Heart," and Barbara Lynn's "Oh Baby" are all among the group's best R&B interpretations. Flowers - A 1967 US compilation of tracks from the UK versions of Aftermath & Buttons, singles, and outtakes. Contains some more classic Jagger / Richards' songs including "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow" and making its first album appearance, is the biting, deeply sceptical "Sittin' On A Fence." Also includes covers of "My Girl."
