Description
Hammer Films launch a new series of remastered soundtrack releases with this definitive edition of The Curse of Frankenstein, the film that established Hammer’s gothic legacy and reshaped British horror.
In early 1957, composer James Bernard wrote and recorded sixteen cues for the production, forging the bold, ominous sound that became Hammer’s calling card. Though all sixteen pieces featured in the finished film, the original session tapes have since been lost.
During the company’s 2025 4K restoration, around thirteen minutes of clean music were painstakingly extracted from the original mixed track, marking a rare archival recovery of Bernard’s work.
Presented here for the first time, the restored music is sequenced as four atmospheric suites across two 45rpm 7" EPs. Carefully assembled to preserve the dramatic arc of the score, this release captures the menace, grandeur and emotional pull that powered Hammer’s reimagining of Frankenstein — a landmark in British horror cinema.
